An Unusual Request . . .
A neighbor, a bit of a recluse and poet, called to say he was facing a fine for neglecting his yard. Stacy, our volunteer and ministry coordinator invited her small group from the Village Church of Barrington to respond. What happens when you show and share the love of Christ to a Bard? A poem to warm the heart!
Ode to Love, INC. by T.E. Larsen
There is a fine group called Love, INC.
Whose priorities are always in sync
When troubles begin
They simply step in
To stop them just short of the brink
A neighbor–a bard, had a wild-growing yard that the village said must not remain.
They said, down the line they would levy a fine, seems that yard was causing them pain.
Love jumped in the mix; everything they did fix with some digging and raking and such
They didn’t want thanks for the work of their ranks. They said that they hadn’t done much
Well, I’m telling you that is not really true. What they did restored continuity
They said they were glad to create good from bad, they would not accept any gratuity
When they said ciao that day there was simply no way to express my immense gratitude
It came straight from the heart, work was merely a part of the whole very nice interlude
Merry Christmas and THANK YOU from all of us and our neighbors!
