When we first met Sue, she hid shyly behind a baseball cap. At a recent workshop, while we encouraged a small group of women to set SMART goals, Sue watched quietly and wrote, “Stay positive: Safe, Hope, Happiness”. Sue had fled an abusive husband in the middle of the night with her children. After finding a safe place to begin a new life, our caring delivery team brought beds into her new home with beautiful sets of sheets donated by a local church. The next day, she shared about how this simple act of kindness affected her.
“I cried myself to sleep with tears of joy…I just couldn’t believe people could be so nice.”
Today, Sue stopped by to thank us. We saw an amazing transformation. Sue was smiling and hugged Nancy for her care and prayer over the phone. Sue is beginning her new path with joy. It is our privilege to be part of her journey-confidently embracing the future while being embraced by God’s love through his people. To protect Sue’s identity, we have changed her name and are featuring another neighbor’s photo.
With your help, we are able to encourage hearts to hope again. In this season of Thankfulness, as we enjoy the blessings of family and friends in the comfort of a warm home with full tables, please consider Sue’s joy over a simple act of kindness. Your gifts provide our space for God’s grace and empower her simple goals in life: Safety, Hope and Happiness.
Please give generously.
