At the December meeting of the Love INC Lake County Southwest Board of Directors, I announced that I was resigning from my position as Executive Director of Love INC Lake County Southwest, effective March 1, 2015 (which would be my 5 year anniversary).
The simple reason is this – it’s my time. For those who don’t know this about me, the wiring I received from God generally allows for a maximum of around 5 years in any single job. At year 4, I generally start looking for new challenges and asking, “What are we doing next, God?”
I have been praying and seeking wise counsel about my time at Love INC Southwest for a while, and God finally told me the time had come. The 5 years I have spent here have been hugely significant in my ministry.
The stories I have to tell are too many too even begin to name. The same goes for the wonderful people I have worked with. I have been blessed greatly by Board Members, volunteers, clients, partner church pastors, agency representatives, fellow staff members, and more, time and time again.
Now that it’s time for me to move on, I feel great about leaving our affiliate in the capable hands of Volunteer Coordinator Tabitha Nilson, Clearinghouse Coordinator Jeanne McGowan, and Interim Executive Director Roy Johnson. I pray that all who have loved and supported me over the last 5 years will give these guys the same respect and encouragement that has been given to me.
Of course many have asked, “What is Joe doing next?” Here’s the simple answer to that – Joe is going to be a “pastor at large” for a while. I have come to love officiating weddings and I will be building a business around that. I will also be a pastor for funerals/memorial services, baby dedications and the like. I’ve had a website for nearly six years which I will maintain, that discusses these things and more. Feel free to visit Pastors Who Care to learn more. There’s a contact form there that can be used to reach me at my PWC email address. (And I’ll keep my Love INC email active for a month or so.)
One last note is that I will keep a hand in Love INC Southwest for a while at least, mostly helping to keep this website updated and contributing to bulletin inserts and other communication vehicles.
Thank you to everyone I’ve worked alongside in the past five years, and above all thanks to God for giving me the honor of serving Jesus through the life-transforming ministry of Love in the Name of Christ!
