This past weekend, one of our partner churches hosted a Love INC Sunday, which means they invited us to come and give the congregation an update on our partnership with them. This past Sunday I not only got to address the church during both services, but all 3 members of our staff got to speak to one of the large Community Groups the church is forming.
While seated at a table in the gym waiting for things to start, I encountered Mike #1, who was seated to my right. He heard I was from Love INC and he proceeded to tell me that when he was out of work, he had volunteered with us, driving an older couple to weekly medical appointments. He said he had loved doing it, that the people had become good friends, and that he needed to give them a call to check-in.
Then Mike #2, who was seated at my left chimed in. He told me that a while back, he and his wife (who was sitting with him) had experienced an explosion in their home. Love INC came alongside and helped them in the recovery process, including completing one particular repair, which Mike #2 told me, they couldn’t have gotten done any other way.
I later found out there were others in the room who had volunteered with Love INC Southwest, or who had been served by us (and even one who fit both categories!) I was humbled and thrilled at the same time at this picture of God and His Church at work.
By the way, if your church would like to have us come and talk about Love INC, just let me know! We would love to come!
