On a typical day at Love INC Southwest, frequently heard names/titles include: God, Jesus, Church, volunteer, staff, Board Member and more. But quite possibly, the name or term that is most often on our lips is this one: Mom.

This Mother’s Day, Love INC Southwest gives thanks to God for creating moms. Those we serve as clients often become our heroes and role models. (And the mothers we serve alongside who are staff members, board members and volunteers are an amazing bunch too.)

Thank you God, for these special moms we’ve served in the past year!

A Love INC Southwest Love Story

Jesus said, “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”                               Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV)

Easter is one of the big days on the Christian calendar. For CEOs, it’s one of the 3 days they attend Church each year (Christmas, Easter and Occasionally).

Millions celebrated Easter last week in traditional fashion: egg hunts, Church services, family dinners, etc.

But some of Love INCs favorite people did something really, really special this past Easter Sunday. They took the plunge and were baptized in the name of Jesus Christ!

Pictured here, Pastor Dave Mudd (from Love INC partner church, Alpine Chapel) baptizes our very own Earnestine. In addition, our friends Elizabeth, Josh and Erin also went public with their faith through baptism at Alpine on Easter. In total, 4 Love INC SW friends were baptized. 3 clients and 1 volunteer. And they’re all the same to us, and to Jesus!

Please join us in giving thanks for this amazing day in the lives of these people we love (and whom God loves even more)!

Building a Spiritual Family

In 2013 we began walking alongside a very special family made up of a legally blind mom (Vicky), her 2 visually impaired children, and a dad who had significant health issues and was living elsewhere.

(Click HERE to see Vicky in our most recent Love INC SW Video)

The first contact with Love INC came when a local social worker called looking for help paying one of Vicky’s bills. But Love INC never stops with the first need a caller presents. “What else does the family need?” our Clearinghouse Coordinator asked the social worker.”

“Oh, I can’t event tell you. There’s too much,” was the reply. To which our CC replied, “No matter what it is, it’s not too much for God.”

Truer words were never spoken. The social worker outlined a long list of needs, some of which were big and complex. In the 2 years that have passed since we first encountered this family, we have mobilized volunteers from local churches around them in so many ways, it’s almost too much for us to keep track of (but not too much for God!)

Our favorite way to describe it is to say, “We built a spiritual family around them.” We not only helped the social worker find more services to help, but we brought people into their lives who simply became family. The kids got 2 sets of new “grandparents”. Vicky got  companionship, rides to the store, to doctor appointments, and even help when she went for eye surgery.

Today, the entire family is living together again (Dad too). Vicky’s surgery was a success and he has regained a significant amount of her vision. Love INC was able to secure a grant to help pay for the little boy to attend a special school to meet his needs until he could enter the public school system. None of it was too big for God.

You’ll be hearing more of Vicky’s story in the coming months. Enter your email address on the front page of our site to receive email notification each time we share a new post!
